Recognition and partners

Independent and referee-led, working constructively alongside the federations and the organisations that back referees.

Water Polo NSW

AWPR is a national association, based in NSW, and formally recognised by Water Polo NSW. We work with WPNSW on referee recruitment, development and support, while remaining independent and led by referees.

Water Polo Australia

Recognition from Water Polo Australia is under way. We will update this page when it is confirmed.

Other states and territories

AWPR is national from day one and open to referees in every state and territory. We are seeking formal recognition from each state and territory water polo body, and will list each one here as it is confirmed. Referees from all states are strongly encouraged to pre-register now.

How we work with the federations

  • Accreditation, appointments and discipline stay with Water Polo NSW and Water Polo Australia.
  • AWPR adds community, mentoring, education and support on top of the federation pathway.
  • We are a constructive partner. We are not a union and not a breakaway body.
  • AWPR members remain bound by the federation codes and the National Integrity Framework. See our Code of Conduct.

Partners and sponsors

We are building a small group of partners who share our commitment to referees: equipment suppliers, clubs, venues and businesses that want to support the people who make the game possible.
